Dr. Fleeger has been in private practice in Austin since 1991. After completing his BS at Baylor University in 1981, he attended Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and his Colon and Rectal Fellowship at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Dr. Fleeger is Board Certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Fleeger practices the full spectrum of the surgical treatment of diseases of the colon and rectum. He has a special interest in the treatment of cancer of the colon and rectum including endoscopic, laparoscopic, DaVinci robotic and sphincter-sparing techniques.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Fleeger stays busy as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Medical Association and a gubernatorial appointee and Chair of the Texas Health Services Authority. He is a Board Member (and Past- President) of the Central Texas Catholic Healthcare Guild. He has received the Travis County Medical Society Physician of the Year Award (2012), The Frist Humanitarian Award (2008) and the Overton Award for quality in health care (2015). He has been listed in Austin Monthly’s “Top Doctors” and Texas Monthly’s “Super Doctors” multiple years.
In his ‘spare time’ Dr. Fleeger enjoys boating, travel and photography. He has participated in an annual medical mission trip to Guatemala with his wife, Jamie, for over 15 years.
