Dr. Graves is originally from Baton Rouge, where he attended Louisiana State
University. Geaux Tigers! He received his MD from the LSU School of Medicine
in New Orleans in 1982. He completed his Surgery residency at the Ochsner
Clinic in New Orleans in 1988, and his Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship
at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1989. He then
joined the faculty at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in
Mobile where his practice included teaching, research and patient care. He
relocated to Austin in 2000 to begin his private practice of Colon and
Rectal Surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal
Surgery and practices the entire specialty, with particular interest in
benign anorectal conditions. Dr. Graves is married and has two sons. In his
free time he enjoys gardening, running (even in the Austin summer), and
fishing, especially fly fishing. Although he really enjoys the sport of fly
fishing he'll need to keep his day job. The fish are in little danger. He
hopes that LSU and UT will one day be in the same conference, as the rivalry
would be legendary.
