Dr. Lakshman joined CTCRS in 2010. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky and then went on to complete his general surgery training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He went on to do his colorectal fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida.
Dr. Lakshman is board certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery. He enjoys and practices all aspects of colorectal surgery but has a special interest in minimally invasive, robotic surgery. He has completed over 300 robotic colorectal surgeries; one of the largest volumes in the region.
In addition to serving as a national proctor, instructor, and case observation site for other robotic surgeons, Dr. Lakshman successfully performed the world's first surgery on the latest generation of the da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system here in Austin. He was named an Austin “Top Doc” as well as a “Super Doc Rising Star” for multiple years.
Besides practicing medicine, he enjoys playing tennis and basketball, watching sports and movies, and exploring Austin with his wife and 3 children.
